March
Brother Knights,
Ah, February. What a month! Groundhogs Day, Valentine’s Day, Washington’s Birthday, Lincoln’s Birthday, Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday are all this month. With the beginning of Lent I look forward to this time of year for reflections on personal change and sacrifice during this period leading to Easter. Please make it a personal goal to help out the needy or helpless if at all possible.
We are again going to have live entertainment at our annual St. Patrick’s dinner this year. The committee has again booked Bote, a local Irish style band, that will entertain us all. Please plan on attending our March 13th dinner. Dinner of the corned beef, cabbage, potato, colcannon and desert is only $7.50 for an adult and $3.00 for a child or a $20.00 maximum family. Tickets will be available after mass starting February 27th and 28th.
As our Fraternal year is rapidly coming to a close, let me remind you in order to be considered for an office of the Knights you must be a 3rd Degree Knight. Please let your intentions be known if you wish to seek office for the next Fraternal year.
The Ladies Auxiliary will be hosting a 50’s Dance and Dinner on February 13th at 6:30. Let us go back to the time of poodle skirts, rolled up blue jeans and slick back hair. The dinner will be hot dogs, bake beans, potato salad, mac & cheese, chips, coke floats and an ice cream sundae bar. The cost is $7.00 per adult and $3.00 per child, with a maximum of $20.00 per family. Ticket will go on sale in the Narthex after masses on Jan 30 & 31and February 6 & 7. Tickets will not be sold at the door. There will also be a Harley Davidson photo opportunity for a nominal fee. Come rock and roll fifties style. Be there or be square!!
In closing, I would like ask for your prayers and support to guide me and your patience with me as we journey this month together. Remember, Brotherhood is not just a word, it is in actions and in deeds. Search out those who wish to be counted as a Brother and give him the new Form 100.
May the Irish hills caress you.
May her lakes and rivers bless you.
May the luck of the Irish enfold you.
May the blessings of Saint Patrick behold you.
Ní bhíonn an rath ach mar a mbíonn an smacht.
There is no luck except where there is discipline.
